History of the School

The present St.Anthony’s High School was started in 1946 as St. Joseph’s High School. The founder was Fr.Nathaniel Ofm Cap. The school was growing steadily when in 1972 most of the private institutes where nationalized by the government. After a long struggle of about 30 years these institute were de- nationalized in 2001. Here we gratefully remember the Late Bishop Armando Trinidad who dreamt and struggled hard to get back these Christian institutes. To our great sorrow he was not alive to see his efforts bearing fruit and the cause was led by the then Vicar General Fr.Emmanuel Yousaf Mani.

The Catholic Board of Education and chairman His Grace Archbishop Lawrence Johan Saldanha decided that this particular school St. Joseph’s Government School should be converted into an English medium school and thus in November 2001 the catholic Board of education, Rev. Father Emmanuel Yousaf Vicar General, Group Captain (Retd0 Cecil chauhdry and Mr. Maxwell Shanti approached the Carmel Sisters and requested to run this school with a new name of St. Anthony’s High School.

After the consent from Carmel Sisters, the renovation of the building was started which was dilapidated by then. The renovation stared in November 2001 and a part the building was made ready till April 2002 to start the first academic year. So this St.Anthony’s High School started on 8th April 2002 with Sr. Luke as its first Principal.

Sr.Nilanthi took over the charge as principal on April 14th, 2004 and is still working in the same capacity. She is putting all her efforts and energies together to take the school to the heights of academic glory. The school now is considered to be the fastest growing school in the city.
